Dr. Elliot Heller and Dr. Andrew Miller believe the goal of Otoplasty (ear reshaping) plastic surgery is to create balance and symmetry. During Otoplasty plastic surgery, Dr. Heller and Dr. Miller work to create a natural looking ear shape that is in proportion and balance with the rest of the face. Our plastic surgeons find that even the correction of minor deformities can have an extremely large psychological impact for the patient.

Otoplasty, Ear Plastic Surgery: Incision

Our plastic surgeons commonly use a hidden incision for the otoplasty plastic surgery procedure in order to get the most natural look possible. The hidden incision is made behind the ear and is used to reposition the ears closer to the face by reshaping the cartilage with sutures (stiches). Recovery for this procedure is fairly quick. The dressing is removed 1-3 days after the surgery, and is only worn at night following this period with very minimal discomfort and almost no pain at all. Most patients will return to normal activity, with no
physical exhertion, after just a few days. The ears will appear swollen, with slight bruising to the area, for about 2-3 weeks.
